IRC has been working in Pakistan for over 30 years, and manages & delivers large, complex programs to meet needs in health, education, protection, environmental health and livelihoods for displaced, poor & conflict-affected communities. IRC works in partnership with local government and non-governmental organizations and currently works in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Sindh provinces.

Job Overview/Summary:

Reporting to the DRR/Livelihoods Specialist for Sindh province, the Sr. Livelihood Officer will be responsible to carry out livelihoods related activities in the DRR focused project in Sindh

Major Responsibilities:

1.        Support the livelihood specialist in the implementation of the program activities related to the transfer of cash, agriculture support or other livelihoods related in kind benefits to the communities

2.        Support the field teams in the identification and assessments of the beneficiaries of the project

3.        Identify appropriate training materials and sources for training of farmers around agriculture, water conservation and improved farming

4.        Keep close coordination and manage the trainings on agriculture and livestock to the beneficiaries through the line departments

5.        Promote soil conservation, disaster resilient farming practices and improved feeding practices for livestock

6.        Keep records and manage documentation of all the transactions and related documents

7.        Support the project team in the distribution of project inputs to the beneficiaries through the selected vendors or at the distribution points

8.        Provide consultations and support to the communities on activities related to the livelihoods

9.        Monitor the purchases from the market by the beneficiaries

10.     Keep track records of the payments

11.     Develop and share reports of the transactions to the senior managers 

12.     Any other assignment which is given by the Livelihood Manager

Job Requirements:

Education:

University level Master’s Degree in agriculture or rural development

Work Experience:

Total Work Experience 3 years in the related field of DRR focused agriculture, water and livelihoods, resilient/conservation agriculture practices, up to date and strong knowledge of smallholder agriculture and flood and drought resilient farming, knowledge of crops and livestock value chain 

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

·         Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. 

·         Good team player and coordination skills

·         Experience of working with government line departments (agriculture, livestock, irrigation)

·         Strong knowledge of local livelihoods

Language Skills: 

·         Strong oral and written English, Urdu

·         Local languages

Desirable criteria:  

·         Work with INGOs

·          Experience of working in North Sindh
